At Gandy Angus  we’ve been producing seedstock beef cattle since 1986.

With over 30 years of breeding experience, Kim does all of our Artificial Insemination (AI). He uses natural heat to produce excellent cattle and bulls with the commercial beef producer front of mind, with a focus on temperament, structure, growth, carcass traits and maternal function.

"The bull's genetics on both its sire and dam pedigrees are outcrosses to anything we have used in the past."

WES GRAHAM - FARM WEEKLY

Foundation Females

Gandy Angus (formerly Diamond Tree Angus) was established in 1986 when purchased 15 purebred Black Angus cows from Whispering Pines, 20 from Mordallup Angus and 50 from Mayfield Park Angus.

In 1994 Kim visited Hamilton Farms Angus in Canada and purchased embyros. These embryos combined  herd building females MVF Tibbie 15T, Knights Blackbird 9.

MVHF Dreamwalker 29A, who was a grandson of Tibbie 15T. The resulting progeny from that flush were HF Walk-On 14C, and his two sisters HF Blackbird 26C and HF Blackbird 27C who became the foundation of the Blackbird cow families.

Kim imported HF Walk-On 14C into Australia and built a major part of the herd from the Walk-On line. He topped Genestar for marbling and eating quality but was never recognised by Breedplan due to his outcross pedigree and low use in Australia.

Walk-On 14C produced herd sire R203 who in turn produced T47. Daughters of T47 include W44, W50 and X33 who all went on to produce multiple herd sires and stud females.

Kim was the first in Australia to use Hingaia 469 with the first calves born in 1994. Hingaia 469 is found in a majority of our pedigrees and produced herd sire U37 who had X24. She produced herd sires Z8 and C112.

Other foundational cow families include Rambo, N Bar Emulation EXT II, Atahua Legacy 26-90(NZ) and TC Stockman 2164

Females descending from these lines and making a lasting impact in the herd include:

Diamond Tree Reserve L21 | Diamond Tree Bartel L36  | Diamond Tree Prosperity L70 | Diamond Tree Mentor L86

Diamond Tree CC & & L180 | Diamond Tree Bartel N136 | Diamond Tree Bartel N198 | Diamond Tree Bronc P32

Diamond Tree Innovation P39 | Diamond Tree Stunner R15
